When COVID-19 hit New York in March, it quickly became the country’s coronavirus epicenter. It hit close to home since we are based in Brooklyn and the news of a mask shortage made us want to mobilize our resources to help fight the battle against the pandemic. We asked ourselves how Atoms, a small shoe company with less than two dozen employees, could help. Initially we donated one pair of Atoms shoes to healthcare workers for every pair of limited edition Coral Pink and Ocean Blue sneakers sold.
We realized that we could reallocate our production facilities in South Korea to manufacture masks that extend the same ethos of Atoms sneakers. Due to the nature of our business, we have a very close relationship with our manufacturers in South Korea that we were able to leverage, along with the supply of our antimicrobial copper-lined fabric used in the Model 000. The masks are reusable, antimicrobial, and hand washable up to 50 times, after which they behave like a regular cloth mask.
Atoms board member Alexis Ohanian donated 5,000 masks. We are also donating one mask for every one sold. We are selling the masks at close to cost and not profit off of the masks. By buying the Atoms Everyday Mask, customers have benefitted organizations including the New York City Housing Authority, Colin Kaepernick’s Know Your Rights Camp, King County Emergency Management, Yakima Valley Community Foundation, and the United Sherpa Association.

I like them. The masks are breathable and I use them a lot when I go to the gym. They are so comfortable that I forget that I’m wearing them.

It fits well, very comfortable and it looks good.

I see what they were going for here and admittedly, it is a very comfortable and lightweight mask. However; the fit is honestly atrocious. Before purchasing, I made sure to consult their sizing guide for both myself and my partner (we both fell under the medium category). The masks came in today and when we tried them on we were both very disappointed. The masks don’t fit very well around the nose area and basically slide right off your face when you move your jaw. There’s also large gaps under the chin pocket. Touting that the the masks are for “everyday use” and antimicrobial does nothing without the proper fit, and for $12 per mask, we were both expecting better quality.

Love these masks! I’m a barber and I wear a mask 8-10 hours a day. I can breathe in these, and they do not cause acne. I have several in different colors. Would love to see some other colors or patterns, like RED or maybe some cool leopard pattern just for fun!

This is a great comfortable breathable mask it seems super thin and cheap it's almost scary to trust it to provide any protection but if you trust the copper yarn technology then you should be relatively safe. My biggest and only complaint with this mask is there is no nose clamp so viruses can sneak right through the bridge of the nose area. I truly hope they get with the program and create one with a nose clamp.
